Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to Jurnal Kebijakan Publik dan Pembangunan Daerah should prepare their manuscript in accordance with the journal's official manuscript template and the following guidelines.

Manuscript Template

Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts using the official template of Jurnal Kebijakan Publik dan Pembangunan Daerah. Please download the appropriate template below:

Authors should use the template corresponding to the language of the submitted manuscript and should not substantially modify the formatting and structure provided in the template.

General Manuscript Preparation

  • Manuscripts should follow the structure and formatting provided in the official journal template.
  • The manuscript title should be written in Calibri, 16 pt.
  • The names of all authors should be presented clearly below the title.
  • Each author's institutional affiliation should be provided.
  • The corresponding author's email address should be clearly indicated.
  • Authors should provide relevant keywords representing the main topics of the manuscript.
  • The structure of the main manuscript may be adjusted according to the type and methodological approach of the article, while maintaining academic clarity and consistency.

Types of Manuscripts

Jurnal Kebijakan Publik dan Pembangunan Daerah welcomes manuscripts relevant to public policy and regional development, including:

  • Original research articles;
  • Literature reviews;
  • Policy studies and policy analyses;
  • Evaluation studies; and
  • Applied research.

The organization of the manuscript should be appropriate to the type of article submitted. Empirical and systematic studies are expected to present their methods and findings explicitly, while conceptual policy studies and narrative literature reviews may use a thematic structure where appropriate.

Abstract

The abstract should be written in Book Antiqua, 10 pt and preferably should not exceed 200 words. The abstract should be clear, concise, and descriptive, and should enable readers to understand the main contribution of the manuscript.

The abstract should briefly include, as applicable:

  • the background or problem addressed;
  • the objective of the study;
  • the methodology or analytical approach used;
  • the main findings or results; and
  • the principal conclusion or implication.

Introduction

The Introduction should clearly describe the issue addressed in the manuscript. Authors should provide sufficient background information and a concise review of relevant literature before presenting the research objective.

The Introduction should, where relevant:

  • describe the background and context of the problem;
  • present a concise review of relevant previous studies and existing approaches;
  • identify important findings or perspectives from previous research;
  • identify limitations, research gaps, or policy problems that remain unresolved;
  • explain how the present study addresses those limitations, gaps, or policy issues;
  • demonstrate the scientific contribution, novelty, or practical relevance of the manuscript; and
  • state the objective of the study clearly.

Methods

The Methods section should explain how the study was conducted and provide sufficient information for readers to understand the research or analytical process.

A separate Methods section is required for original empirical research, evaluation studies, applied research, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and other manuscripts involving systematic data collection or analysis.

Depending on the nature of the study, the Methods section may include:

  • research design or methodological approach;
  • research setting, population, sample, participants, or unit of analysis;
  • data sources and types of data;
  • data collection procedures or instruments;
  • sampling or selection procedures;
  • variables, indicators, or analytical framework, where applicable;
  • data analysis techniques; and
  • ethical considerations, where applicable.

For systematic or scoping literature reviews, authors should explain the information sources or databases, search strategy, eligibility criteria, study selection process, and method of synthesis or analysis.

For conceptual policy studies and narrative literature reviews, a separate Methods section is optional. However, authors should clearly explain the analytical approach, sources of information or literature, and the basis used to develop the analysis.

Results and Discussion

The Results and Discussion section should present the main findings of the study and provide a critical interpretation of their meaning and significance.

For empirical research, evaluation studies, applied research, systematic reviews, and other manuscripts that generate identifiable findings, the results should be presented clearly and systematically. Tables, figures, or other forms of data presentation may be used where they improve clarity.

The Discussion should:

  • interpret the main findings rather than merely repeat the data;
  • explain the significance and implications of the findings;
  • relate the findings to relevant theories, policies, or previous studies;
  • identify similarities, differences, or developments compared with previous research;
  • discuss the implications of the findings for public policy, governance, or regional development, where relevant; and
  • acknowledge relevant limitations of the study where appropriate.

The Results and Discussion may be presented as a combined section or divided into appropriate subsections according to the nature of the manuscript.

For conceptual policy studies and narrative literature reviews, a separate Results section is not mandatory. Authors may organize the main analysis into thematic subsections that clearly develop the argument, synthesis, or policy analysis.

Conclusion

The Conclusion should directly address the objectives of the manuscript and provide a clear and concise synthesis of the main conclusions.

Authors should not simply repeat the Abstract or restate the results. The Conclusion should emphasize the significance of the findings or analysis and, where relevant, may include:

  • policy implications;
  • practical recommendations;
  • possible applications of the findings;
  • implications for regional development or public governance; and
  • directions for future research.

Jurnal Kebijakan Publik dan Pembangunan Daerah uses APA Style for references.

  • Only sources that have been read and cited in the manuscript should be included in the reference list.
  • All sources cited in the text must appear in the References section.
  • The reference list should be arranged alphabetically.
  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use a reference management application such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, or another comparable reference manager.
  • Authors should ensure the accuracy and completeness of all bibliographic information, including DOI or URL information where applicable.
  • Authors may refer to previously published articles in the journal as examples of reference formatting.

The journal template provides APA-style examples for several types of sources, including:

  • journal articles;
  • journal articles with article numbers;
  • journal articles with incomplete bibliographic information;
  • magazine articles;
  • newspaper articles;
  • books and edited books;
  • course-pack materials;
  • government agency reports;
  • conference presentations; and
  • conference proceedings.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally contain the following components:

  1. Title;
  2. Author name(s);
  3. Institutional affiliation(s);
  4. Corresponding author's email address;
  5. Keywords;
  6. Abstract;
  7. Introduction;
  8. Methods, when required by the type of manuscript;
  9. Results and Discussion, or appropriate thematic analytical subsections for conceptual manuscripts;
  10. Conclusion; and
  11. References.

Authors may use appropriate subsections within the main sections to improve the organization and readability of the manuscript. The structure should remain consistent with the nature of the study and the official journal template.

Before submission, authors should ensure that the manuscript complies with the journal's formatting requirements, publication ethics, plagiarism policy, and other applicable editorial policies.
